Bio

I currently serve as Medical Director of Neurosurgery at The Medical Center of Aurora and Director of The Chiari Care Center in Aurora, Colorado. Before moving to Colorado in 2005, I served as Professor and Chief of Neurosurgery and Director of the Neurological Surgery Training Program at the University of Missouri Health Sciences Center in Columbia, Missouri.

For the past 10 years, I have specialized in the evaluation and treatment of persons with the Chiari malformation and syringomyelia. In January 1998, Diane Mueller, ND, RN, and I launched the IRB approved MU Chiari Malformation Data Bank to track the patients undergoing surgical treatment by me at the University of Missouri Health Sciences Center, in Columbia Missouri.

During my tenure at MU and now at TMCA, I have performed over 400 operations for the Chiari I malformation. I also evaluate persons for primary and traumatic syringomyelia and the tethered spinal cord.

I have had the pleasure of lecturing on the Chiari malformation and syringomyelia throughout the country. Soon, Diane Mueller, ND, RN, and I will publish the book The Chiari Book: A Guide for Patients, Families and Health Care Providers. Our research publications are included in the References section.
